1st hartburn sea scouts Award Icon Runner Up

Stockton

The group is approaching its 100 year anniversary in 2021. However, our scout hut is in desperate need of a new roof and costs to replace this are in excess of £10,000. We have been tirelessly fund raising and so far have managed to raise over £6,000. We fear that due to its current condition that we will not reach this impotant milestone.

Our beavers, cubs and scout group offers a full packed programme of activities for the children to take part in, which includes archery, axe throwing and to attend the organised camps at least twice a year, with one of them being a sailing camp. We have up to 60 children who attend beavers, cubs and scouts. Our aim is to give all children the opportunity to participate in activities they would never get the chance to despite of background and ability. This helps build the confidence. self esteem and independanc of each child and also helps them to interact with children from all ages and abilities.

We are proud to say we have created an environment for the children who work as a team and help each other when taking part in all of our organised activities. Our leaders also try to arrange combined group events and encourage parents to attend also, which creates a feeling of family amongst our group.
