In July 2020 we plan to take a group of young people aged 10 yrs to 18 years old, with leaders to WINGS 2020. Our group have previously attended WINGS in 2009 & 2014, it is a hugely popular camp and gives young people the opportunity to take part in activities throughout a busy week with young people and adults from across the world. The most recent, WINGS 2014, was the biggest yet: 7,000 people from 41 countries from the far flung corners of the globe including New Zealand, Canada, Panama, Nigeria and Russia. WINGS is a well-established and a truly international Scouting and Girlguiding event! Attendance at WINGS increases the knowledge and skills of young people attending broadens their knowledge and understanding of other young people across the world. One of the key activities in WINGS is a sharing of cultures afternoon, each group attending brings traditions, crafts, activities from their country/locality, all young people get a chance to talk to each other, sample their foods, find out about their culture and experience an activity. The cost of the event for each young person is £275, this does not include the cost of transport to and from the event, and the cost of hiring a van to get the equipment to the events as well as additional costs incurred as part of being at an International Scout camp. The young people are working together to fund raise the extra money for transport etc.
