Acklam Grange School Science Club
Middlesbrough
The AGS Science Club is a successful weekly after school club open to all KS3 students. The objective of the club is to foster in students a love of science, to capture their imagination and to stimulate their curiosity and desire to find out more about science and its wider application.
The club provides students with the opportunity to work with other like minded students, make new friends and explore all fields of science by carrying out a range of exciting student led science experiments, projects and competitions that they otherwise wouldn’t get the opportunity to do. Some of the projects students have participated in to date are; volcano building, rocket competitions, electricity investigations and explosions.
As well as having fun and exploring science students develop a wide range of transferrable skills such as team work, perseverance, problem solving, scientific investigation, planning, communication and creativity.
As we are an inclusive, comprehensive school the club is free and open to all students. Unfortunately current school funding means money for extra curricular clubs is limited. The club is creative with its resources but the £250 would ensure the sustainability of the club as it would enable us to buy new equipment and resources which are very much needed so that the club is able to keep on running and can continue to innovate and stimulate students in the field of science.
Thank you for giving us the opportunity to apply.
