Acklam Gym Club

We are a not-for-profit amateur gymnastics club that has been established for nearly 40 years. We are affiliated to British Gymnastics and are Gym Mark Registered.

Our purpose is to promote the amateur sport of gymnastics in Middlesbrough and the surrounding areas, and by doing this we provide opportunities to young people and children.

We actively engage with the local community and provide alternative activities for children and young people to participate at a reasonable cost.

We have >100 children ranging from three to 16 years old who access our facility on a weekly basis.

The club is open every day of the week. We have classes including: pre-school gymnastics ( three to five-year-olds), beginners’ gymnastics (five years upwards), general gymnastics sessions (floor, bar, vault and beam), acro (working in partnership with one or more gymnasts) and tumbling sessions.

All gymnasts work towards competing in local, regional and national competitions.

We are located in a disadvantaged area where children may suffer from low self-confidence and physical fitness. We would like to apply for the grant to help purchase equipment to enhance the experience of the young people we work with in the hope that they gain in confidence and try to develop new skills.
