Battle Hill Primary School Award Icon Winner

Newcastle

Here at Battle Hill Primary School, we love all things STEMtastic! From playgroup through to year six, our aim, like yours, is to ‘shape the future of our world’, by providing our young children with exciting, engaging and practical opportunities, which will inspire innovative thinking across science, technology, engineering and maths. Working closely with our colleagues in secondary school, we are aware that there has been a decline in students choosing to study STEM subjects. Moreover, we are also concerned that this also has an impact on future employment choices and how a career in STEM is perceived.

STEM week, is a real highlight in our school year. It’s not only the children who love it, parents, carers, extended families and teachers do too! This year, our focus will be on careers in STEM, as it is our aim to address the issues we have eluded to above. Our plan is to invite as many employers, as diverse as possible, covering all aspects of STEM. We would be looking for those who could supply workshops that could boost pupils interest in STEM subjects and share their enthusiasm for their chosen employment. A grant of £250 would enable us to buy the necessary equipment and resources a potential employers may need to deliver their activity, or, perhaps pay for there expertise.

On behalf of Battle Hill Primary School, thank you for considering our application.
