CHALONER PRIMARY SCHOOL
Redcar & Cleveland
In previous years, Chaloner Primary school has been involved in the Prince William’s Trust “Skills Force” scheme which, through weekly sessions from one of their dedicated team workers, Year 5 children were taught important life skills mainly being team work, self-confidence and resilience. Unfortunately, this scheme has lost its funding. The children gained a great deal from these sessions and the loss of this resource will have a big impact on future year group’s personal, social and emotional development.
Chaloner have sourced an alternative provider for a similar scheme – Commando Joe’s, who will provide a bespoke programme tailored to the needs of the school. We have identified teamwork as a priority. We are looking to instill a whole school approach to building in children the core qualities of resilience, empathy, self-awareness, positivity, excellence, communication and teamwork. The funding will be used to provide equipment to implement this new scheme and to train teachers and TAs in the team building activities to ensure sustainability.
