Craghead FC Under 9’s Award Icon Winner

Durham

Craghead Football Club grew out of a desire to provide opportunities for children of all ages and backgrounds to become involved in the game of football. Started in 2013 with one team the club has grown through the hard work of the volunteers, parents and children and now has 8 teams playing the Gateshead Youth League, a massive achievement for a small village with a proud footballing history.

The club members have worked tirelessly to secure funding, fundraising and seeking help from local councils and businesses. We pride ourselves on being inclusive and welcome players of all abilities to our club, where everyone works together towards one goal, being successful in all they do and having fun.

Our under 9’s team have been part of the growth of the club and have been together for 2 seasons. The parents, coaches and kids work extremely hard turning up every week, in all weathers and have put a lot of time and effort into playing and being part of the club and local community. They are a fantastic group of boys with a great attitude, always working together to improve their football skills and supporting each other on and off the pitch.

As a reward to their dedication and to develop them further we are planning to take the team to a tournament next year. Each and every player are doing their own fundraising but this grant would give us a boost towards our target to enable the whole team to go.
