Easington District Angling Society
Durham

We are a local angling club seeking out to encourage the local community to come together and visit our site. Since taking over the club in January I have went from one volunteer to twenty, all working to clear a 8 acre site to various ends.
We have scraped paths, laid concrete, installed Bird and bat boxes, maintained marshland and a 3.5acre pond, pruned trees and worked with national charities (June 24 2018) to bring families of the community together and encourage more people into fishing.
Our angling club has recently began working with the boy scouts to help bring their numbers up, improve their following in the community, and encourage youngsters into outdoor activities.
With this grant we will be able to invest in gardening materials (tree loppers, small spades for youths), as well as fruit trees to be planted by the scouts and ourselves. This autumn we will be creating willow weave fencing with the scouts to help Improve habitat for insects and small mammals, and the pollen from the trees will all help to improve the biodiversity whilst giving the youngsters a chance to learn about the environment.
