Elmfield Badminton Club

Established in 1924, Elmfield Badminton Club are an enthusiastic, friendly and welcoming senior badminton club, based in Newcastle upon Tyne. We currently have over 30 club members, which we are looking to grow over the coming year. We are affiliated to the Northumberland Badminton Association and, at present, we have 8 teams (4 mixed doubles, 2 men’s doubles and 2 ladies’ doubles) competing in the Northumberland League. We are an accredited Badminton England Premier Club which is Badminton England’s Clubmark standard and shows that our club provides the right environment, ensuring the welfare of members and encouraging everyone to enjoy sport and stay involved throughout their lives. We are also currently in the process of expanding our club and setting up a new junior section in order to provide more opportunities for young people to get involved in badminton.

We would like to apply for the Venator Together Fund as we would like to further develop team spirit and unity within our club, especially with the launch of the new junior section, through purchasing new team kit. Our club has not been able to afford new kit for a number of seasons and we believe that team kits foster unity, which in turn can keep players motivated to succeed. Team kits also promote solidarity, equality and teamwork as well as developing a sense of loyalty and dedication to the team, which is important when trying to win as a group, and highlights that no individual is more important than another.
