Harbour Support Services
Hartlepool
We are a domestic abuse charity who have 6 women’s refuges across the North East. We are looking for community funding to supply outside toys for the children in our refuges, if awarded this money we could split it between each refuge and be able to buy suitable toys for the outside space. We are trying to encourage families to play outside as much as possible but the resources we have for this is very limited. We are seeking similar funding via other community funding such as Persimmon and Arnold Clark so we can get the very best equipment for the children that we can.
The children that are residing with us, in their time of need, have often experienced and witnessed trauma and we do our utmost to creative a happy and safe environment to change the cycle of abuse and show children that life can be happy, safe and good.
We have a dedicated team of qualified children’s workers who will engage the children and mum’s in outside play and if we can purchase enough suitable equipment we may be able to organise fun team activities with other families like mini-sports days, scavenger hunts, treasure hunts and obstacle courses.
The demand for domestic abuse support has increased massively since the pandemic and we are now supporting more clients than we have ever done in our 40+ years which is why we are seeking as much funding as possible.
