Headland Festivals Group (Wintertide Festival)
Hartlepool
Wintertide is an annual independent festival, working at a grassroots level on the Headland in Hartlepool. It is rooted in the community, but has enjoyed a period of significant growth over recent years, attracting audiences from an ever-growing footprint. The festival prides itself on creating opportunities for local and emerging artists and mentoring for students and we will continue to grow, develop and celebrate as a community
We are a small team of volunteers who are passionate about where we live and strive to produce a great event through community arts, festive markets, music and film, as well as hosting workshops and installations from national and international artists.
We were delighted to still go ahead with a scaled down version of the festival in 2020 during the pandemic by producing an arts trail with light installations, community projects, local artists producing art with plastics and recyclable materials, at home workshops, online music programmes and virtual parades with the help of local school children.
If we were to awarded grant funding we would be able to invest in our street ambassador programme who are working with us to produce the next art trail. We try to offer as many free or ‘pay what you think’ activities at the festival so the additional funding will also go towards the costs of creating and delivering community workshops for everyone to take part in be it at the event or at home.
