Heart Support (North Tees and Hartlepool)
Stockton
Heart Support was formed in 2018 and provides free exercise classes for Cardiovascular patients. We hold 6 weekly classes across 5 venues in
Stockton Billingham and Hartlepool.
All the Classes consist of Warm up, Aerobic exercise , Relaxation, and finishing with a cuppa and chat. The Classes are lead by a Phase 4 Qualified British Association for Cardiovascular Prevention and Rehabilitation. As well as providing Members with regular exercise, they also give the opportunity for Social Interaction both of which are vital for recovering Cardiovascular patients. The age range of our Members is 60 – 95 many of whom live alone.
Heart Support has no regular income and relies on grants and donations to cover the expenditure for tutor Wages and Venue Hire. We have received grants from The National Lottery, County Durham Community Foundation, and Sports England.
To supplement these grants we have carried out several fund raising events, such at Tombola Stalls at Stockton Market and North Tees and Hartlepool Hospitals. We have also held Raffles for Easter and Christmas Hampers. All of the monies raised by these events have gone directly to Heart Support.
In addition we have held Social Events such Quiz Nights and Pie and Pea supper. We recently held a 3rd. year Anniversary Lunch at a Local Rugby Club. All of these events were well attended and enhanced the Social side of our operation.
Our Membership numbers have increased recently and any money granted would allow us to continue to supply our vital service.
