KTS Academy

KTS Academy is a school which provides a specialist education for children and young people from the age of 3 to 19 who have a range of special educational needs and disabilities. Our school population mostly includes children with an ASC (autistic spectrum condition) and severe or profound and multiple learning difficulties or disabilities (SLD or PMLD). Many of our children and young people have more than one condition so are considered to have complex needs. Our aim is to create a supportive and caring environment for children and young people from across the Redcar and Cleveland Borough, as well as surrounding boroughs.

Science builds upon children’s natural fascination with the world in which they live and their desire to find out more about the phenomena occurring around them. This fascination is developed through first hand exploration which fosters curiosity, cooperation, problem solving, observation, independent learning, perseverance and open mindedness.

If successful, we would like to use the money from the Bright Ideas Fund to organise an external provider to come in and deliver some SEN tailored Science sessions to our pupils. We would like to focus on the awe and wonder of Science, giving our pupils an experience they may otherwise not have access to.
