LD:NorthEast is a charity based in North Tyneside supporting adults with learning disabilities and autism. We offer a number of inclusive sport sessions across the week for individuals that may not feel comfortable attending other sessions without a familiar face.
One of these sessions is a weekly inclusive football session that is supported by Newcastle United Foundation that has high numbers of attendees turning up each week for the session. This session is adapted for all levels of abilities and has turned into the most popular inclusive sports session with attendances regular being over 25 people each week. This session has also developed into creating a football team that plays in league with other organizations. I believe this session promotes teamwork and the importance of developing relationships on and off the football field.
We would love this grant to be able to offer the clients that attend the football session the opportunity to attend a football stadium tour that in normal circumstances they would not be able to attend due to their own hardships.
