Little Treasures Award Icon Winner

Durham

Little Treasures began in October 2016 when two mothers who have children with autism felt alone and wanted a group where their children could play wihout judgment.

We offer stay and play sessions with sensory equipment, teen groups, lego sessions and parent support sessions. We also offer courses in understanding autism, challenging behaviour and mental health to our members and the wider public to raise awareness. On completion everyone receives a level 2 certification.

We have 13 groups across the North East in less than 2 years as there was such a need for our group like ours. We are all volunteers, meaning whatever money we raise or have donated to us goes straight back into our groups. We have no wages or overheads. We received our CIO status in May 2018.

£250 would help us buy some more Lego for our teen groups. Once we have lego we want to train in Lego therapy to offer to our families. We really appreciate any help we receive towards supporting more families living with autism. With Little Treasures no family will be left feeling isolated.
