Marske Cricket Club
Redcar & Cleveland
Marske cricket club celebrated its 150th year last summer and is at the heart of the local community. In recent years the club has re-established its junior section and we are now under going a period of significant expansion. In 2019, we had an u11’s and u13’s team with over 40 juniors regularly attending weekly coaching sessions. We took part in the national initiative ‘All Stars’ cricket and had a further 39 5-8 year olds join our club. We are extremely proud of our family club ethos and take great joy from seeing children develop their confidence through teamwork. We are looking to ride the wave of England’s historic world cup win this summer and inspire the next generation of future cricketers.
Venator funding would help us buy new playing shirts with the Marske logo on. This will give the juniors a real sense of belonging to a team and a club whilst removing a financial barrier to participation. Full cricket equipment is so expensive which does result in some children stopping playing. Our aim is to provide our cricketers with a playing shirt which will not be possible without the support from organisations such as Venator.
In 2020 we are looking to develop an u9’s team, and a girls section. We are also going to enter an u15’s team for the first time in 6 years meaning we will have close to 100 children from ages 5-15 involved in our junior section.
