Mary B Summer Camp (est. 1946)

Mary B Summer Camp is a registered charity based in Sunderland. Staff and trustees arrange an annual summer camp to help to young people develop their skills and capabilities through the activities we arrange. This enables them to grow to full maturity as individuals and as members of society.

Welcoming girls and young ladies between the ages of 9 and 21 years for an annual 10 day camp, we allow them to experience a new way of life – under canvas, in the great outdoors.

Hosting in the region of 50 – 60 young people each year we coordinate inter tent activities which promote team work; develop their knowledge and understanding about camping; encourages them to take on responsibilities for themselves and others; teaches how to live and work together as a close knit team. Our motto is: Guide, Aspire, Believe, Succeed.

We aim to positively influence young people to walk forward in life with vision and values that benefit all people that they come into contact with.

To keep costs to a minimum and support affordability for the campers, the majority of our activities are site based and coordinated by our volunteer staff. These include Tent Tidying, Podex (a cross between cricket and rounders), Volleyball, Sports Day, Initiative Day and Treasure Hunt.

We are seeking funding to allow us to expand our range of activities at camp next year by bringing in an external organisation to offer new experiences on site and would appreciate your support.
