North Tyneside

North Shields Polytechnic Club is one of the largest community athletics clubs in the North East, offering opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to develop skills in Track & Field, Road Running, Cross Country, Fell Running and Triathlon. Founded in 1903, we are today an inclusive charity with a strong focus on youth development, including providing exciting training and competition opportunities for our 306 junior members aged from 6 to 17.

We would use this grant to enable a group of our junior athletes to participate in the National Cross Country Championships 2020, which will be held in Nottingham on 22nd February 2020. This is a highly prestigious annual event which gives children aged 11 and over the chance to compete as part of a team in a relay-style event held on a national stage.

The funds would cover the group’s travel and entry fees, eliminating barriers to participation for any one of our junior athletes wishing to attend.

The event will not only bring together a group of exceptionally talented young athletes who work hard year-round to train and give their all at events; it would give them the opportunity to work as part of a team whilst representing our club and the region on a national stage, go on an inspiring excursion, and compete alongside the best young athletes in the UK.
