We are currently redesigning our curriculum with a real focus on the STEM area of development. We have been developing our working scientifically strands and are now looking for something to take us further and encourage children to invest in a future in the STEM subjects. We have recently gained the NPQSM award in Science and would like to develop further using CREST.

CREST inspires children to think as a scientist or engineer which currently is a real focus in our school for example to think like a historian etc. By joining CREST we would enable our children to take part in student-led project work and reward their successes. It would also allow them to build their teamwork, problem solving, communication and creativity skills.

At the present time, our focus would be year 3, 4 and 5 to take on these challenges embedding their skills and allowing them to progress to secondary school with a deep understanding Science in their everyday lives. At £1 per student, they would receive 8 – 1hour challenges which would deepen their understanding. Currently in the year groups we have 270 children. Some challenges could also be set for parents to learn alongside children to encourage a love of Science.
