Prudhoe Community High School is hosting a community Big Bang event that celebrates Science and Engineering both in the school, our community and the wider world. We will be bringing engineering companies in the local community together with local Universities to inspire, motivate and promote careers in the Science and Engineering sectors.

The plan for the event will be to invite our feeder first and middle school students to work alongside our high school students in practical scientific investigations. The students will also watch a sports science show as well as tour around an exhibition of stalls including local businesses and universities that are giving up their time to host activities and provide information about their careers. Our own sixth form students are running most of the events and looking after the younger students for the day including showing them how to carry out the experiments and ensuring that the younger students stay safe doing so. A lot of our sixth form will be working alongside the universities and business to organise and run stalls. We are currently working from a budget of zero, and would really love to be able to provide transport for our first and middle students to the high school, on top of this to buy some science related prizes to award when they complete activities. We also need smaller pairs of safety goggles for our younger students for when we carry out the practical investigations.
