Redcar Triathlon club Award Icon Runner Up

Redcar & Cleveland

At two years old, Redcar Triathlon Club (RTC) is popular and successful. Engaging with over 70 individuals and with over 20 members, the club is affiliated with British triathlon, has bronze level accreditation, and has four qualified volunteer coaches. Some members have joined having been inspired by Redcar’s own seafront triathlon. Others have joined to be part of a team rather than train alone. 2018 has seen us donning our new kit, enabling us to come together as a team, growing in confidence together at events. £106 of funding would support the purchase of a feather flag, helping to set up an instantly recognisable base at events for friends, family and fellow competitors to cheer on fellow athletes throughout the season.

Athletes ability varies across RTC. We need to give support to our novice swimmers, which can be difficult as new swimmers are invited to train amongst more established swimmers. Confidence and technique will be far more effective with the addition of a subsidised extra lane for a few winter weeks. Novice swimmers will feel more established as team members for the new season. RTC prides itself on working rowards a variety of goals, celebrating all individual achievements along the way. Continually helping others to progress is a real strong point within the team. Our aim is to work hard as a team and offer opportunities for progressing health and mental wellbeing within Redcar’s community.
