Riding Mill Outdoor Preschool Award Icon Runner Up

Northumberland

We are a long-established village preschool on the verge of exciting changes.

In September 2018 we will continue to offer Early Years education but we will open at our new, outdoor, setting in the grounds of our village first school. The children, aged 3-4, will spend most of their time outside, learning through collaborative play in beautiful surroundings. Inside activities will focus on the yurt which has been built for this purpose and we will also utilise an existing outdoor classroom as our Engineering Shed.

We feel sure that we are offering a unique opportunity for pre-schoolers in the Tyne Valley. The prospect of this new provision has been very well-received and we have had a lot of interest from parents beyond our immediate neighbourhood.

The move will strengthen our existing links with the school, which itself has strong links with the local community, the church and neighbouring schools. We are sure that this can only enhance all these relationships and ensure that the wider community benefits.

In order to maximise the potential of our new setting, we need to invest in appropriate equipment, safety measures and clothing. The £250 from the Together Fund would help us ensure that we achieve a safe and stimulating environment from which all the children can truly benefit.
