Rutherford AFC

We are a local charity grassroots football club based in the Lobley Hill area of Gateshead and we have a long and successful history in the local area of helping develop the potential of Children and young people across the North East by encouraging them to take part in our activities and include all ages and abilities. Many of our Children are from families which are experiencing poverty, unemployment and deprivation due to numerous factors but all of them have a passion and a vision.

We have played a major role in reducing crime and antisocial behaviour in the local area from the work we do and we are proud of our history. We’ve recently won the respect award. 

The climate of austerity that we currently live in, and years of Government and local authority cutbacks in funding mean that we must be increasingly raise funds ourselves to support the work we do in order to harness the talents of children that come to us.

Therefore, should we be successful in our application, we would use the grant for the benefit of all by making improvements to our facilities and equipment which will help grow the club benefiting young people from all backgrounds and abilities.
