Saint Oswald’s Church of England Aided Primary and Nursery School Award Icon Runner Up

Durham

My name is Anjolaoluwa McElroy. I have five children. Three of which are primary school age attending St. Oswald’s C of E Aided Primary and Nursery School and one attending the School’s Sunshine Club which aims to complement the school’s provision in providing high quality education and child care provision for children aged 3-11. Each of my children are very important to me and so is the quality of their education. It is because of this that I am motivated to put this application forward. One of my daughters brought home today a “Primary Times’ Issue 92 magazine. Her and her brother pointed out few things that they would love to do and experience over the easter break. One was titled “The excitement is building.” Which is about kids experiencing new lego brick models and workshop. My two sons enjoy building with legos. I am so filled with astonishment on several amazing things that I have personally seen them built using just basic legos, this has been all we have been able to afford. I.e, they were able to build 3D Titanic, T-Rex, Helicopter and more recognisable figures. I sometimes take a picture of them. I find them even more inquisitive when they discover other opportunities when they are together with their peers in school. This makes me ponder on what they would do given more opportunities like this within their clubs. Sunshine Club would benefit it’s children as a whole in continuing to meet these creative and engineering desires.
