Saltburn and Marske Amateur Swimming Club
Redcar & Cleveland
Saltburn and Marske Amateur Swimming Club began in 1984. We are a small and friendly swimming club who use Saltburn Leisure facilities for our training sessions, offering junior and senior swimming.
Our aim is to promote opportunities for local children and adults to improve their swimming abilities in a friendly and professional environment.
Everyone involved with the running of the club gives their time on a voluntary basis aiming to make the club a great community for all involved. We compete in a wide range of competitions from local galas to regional meets. We are extremely proud of the achievements and hard work of our swimmers.
Unfortunately, the pandemic affected so many clubs and their fundraising opportunities. During the pandemic our community kept in touch with each other through social media and our swimmers were encouraged to keep fit and healthy. It was so important for our swimmers to understand the importance of continuing to exercise, helping their fitness and also recognising the positive impact exercising has on their mental health.
We are currently trying to raise funds to purchase new lane ropes. The new equipment would greatly improve the training of our swimmers because with the new technology they provide an effective barrier against waves. This will benefit our swimmers. It will enable them to swim faster, gain more personal best times and it will also help improve their fitness levels, promoting a healthy lifestyle for their bodies and their minds.
