SPECTRUM SPARTANS
Durham
Thank you for taking the time to look at our application.
Spectrum Spartans would love to receive funding to purchase new team training strips. We contacted a local sportswear company last year to make us new kits. Unfortunately, they didn’t fit well and the necklines were very small. The company agreed to reimburse us part of the cost, but after trying to contact them to sort it out, we found that they had disappeared from their premises. We were very disappointed. The children are now training in a mixture of kits, some wearing their own sports clothes.
Our teams consist of Elites, Under 15’s and Under 13’s. They all train really hard and thoroughly enjoy the sport. Our Under 13’s team beat Grimsby in the Northern Counties Cup final at Middlesbrough in June. We were all extremely proud of them.
Willington is an area of social deprivation and as such many families struggle to afford the necessary equipment (skates, stick, gloves and protective pads) to allow their children to enjoy our sport. Our club get together to do bag packs at local supermarkets and raise funds through raffles.
I’m sure that if the children and our coaches all had the same training kit they would feel special and proud to be able to show others that they are part of one team, all working together. I have attached a recent letter received from our newest recruit, Abigail (aged 10).
