Newcastle

The Bostey has been supporting children, young people and the community since 1969; over the years, the Bostey has gone from strength to strength, seeing many generations of young people through its doors. Due to the continued support the Bostey offer, we have established very good links within the community and wider area of Newcastle. We work in cohesion with many organisation to improve children, young peoples and family lives. We already know Walker and Byker are the two most disadvantaged wards of the city where children and young people are at risk of poorer outcomes and sustained intervention can significantly improve aspiration and life chances. Projects like the Bostey are needed as young people need the space to be able to grown and progress at their own speed. We are very different and a unique that offer the children and young people a “drop-in” type session where young people can access our building and join in session if they feel confident enough to. We deliver detached youth work sessions that enables staff to engage with young people on the streets who are not currently engaging in any youth provision activities and through building relationships with the young people were are able to offer our services. Through having, additional funding will enable the project to offer more activities to the young people during our drop in session, Cooking, Arts and crafts, Sporting activities, entrance fee, Health and well-being and crazy science activities.
