To enrich our science curriculum we are planning on a STEM project involving all of our pupils from our youngest Nursery children to our oldest Year Six children. We are going to take the children on a journey to the furthest reaches of Earth. What clothes will an explorer need to wear? Which materials will keep us warm in the Artic, cool in the Sahara dessert? Which shape boat with carry the most scientific equipment without sinking? Which parts of the world are best for growing different crops? Which animals will we see on our journey? Why do polar bears live in the Artic, Kangaroos in Australia? Which shape aeroplanes travel fastest around the world?

To make this project exciting and engaging for the children we would use the funding to encourage pupils to generate their own questions and design their own investigations. The children would have a budget to use to request the equipment they need to conduct their inquiries. We would also use the funding to refresh all of our science equipment which is in desperate need. The funding would mean we could fully immerse the pupils in the project, an experience that will have a lasting effect on the children’s interest in the STEM subjects.

We are excited to find out where our journey takes us, the questions our travels will generate and how we will investigate them. Please help us on our adventure and inspire the next generation of Explorers, Scientists, Engineers and Mathematicians.
