stanley juniors fc u16s Award Icon Runner Up

Durham

Stanley Juniors FC u16s has been running since December 2016. Volunteers including myself whom which are all parents of a player volunteered to run the club after the previous coach decided to fold the team. We as parents seen how much of an advantage the football team was to our kids as it kept them off the streets and gave them something to look forward to as well as keeping fit. We were really upset that the boys were going to have to all go their separate ways so six of us parents got together and decided we would take on the running of the team.

We started with no funding whatsoever so we had to start from scratch and applied for grants so we were able to purchase equipment for training. Each one of us funded our own courses for safeguarding, first aid, crc checks etc and one dad even did his level one coaching. We now have a commitee that consists of secretary, treasurer, chairman, welfare officer, level one coach, level 2 coach.

We have successfully been awarded charted standard and we are very pleased with how far we have come from nothing. Unfortunately running a football club is expensive and our boys now need new kits due to growing and the current ones are ruined by faded numbers and stains. New kits for our team are in the region of £500 so this grant would be a massive help towards that cost.
