Teesside Hospice “Forget me Not” Support

Terminal illness doesn’t stop and neither does Teesside Hospice. Established in 1982 we provide free palliative care and bereavement support for people across the Tees Valley and care for over 3000 individuals every year. Whilst the world has paused due to the pandemic we have continue to provide care, adapt and look to the future.

Your support would provide resources to assist children and adults who are dealing with bereavement. These would includes books,activity material and items for a memory box. Memory boxes are containers that hold special things belonging to a person and might include photos, some favourite piece of music, letters or a recorded message. The memory box reminds them of happy times spent together and offer some comfort. These are used as part of the bereavement counselling process both pre and post death.

These will be used to support and improve the persons mental health and well being, allowing them to develop social and personal skills so they are better equipped to deal with their loss and enjoy their lives.

We have waiting lists for both adults and children which have been made worse due to the pandemic, but as the world begins to open up we are expecting a tsunami of referrals due to traumatic loss because of Covid and we want to be prepared and here giving support to those who need it most.
