The Friends of Guisborough Forest & Walkway
Redcar & Cleveland
The Friends support the Ranger at ‘Guisborough Forest & Walkway’ country park in promoting and improving recreational opportunities for visitors. We also assist in the management of the Walkway, which contains ponds, meadow and woodland, in a way that enhances the natural habitat of a variety of wildlife. To this end the Ranger holds a weekly ‘task day’ to which about a dozen members turn out. The tasks vary e.g. digging ditches, mending fences, repairing play equipment. The group consists of people from all walks of life e.g. retired, unemployed and those with mental health issues. We have to purchase the hand tools that are required to carry out the tasks as we get no financial support from the Local Council & Forestry Commission who own the site. Due to wear and tear during the year these often need to be replaced.
Therefore, should our application be successful we will use the £250 to purchase new equipment as required.
