Whitburn and Cleadon U12’s Football Club
South Tyneside

Whitburn and Cleadon U12’s Football team is a shining example of grass-roots football; inclusive, local and successful without being consumed by success. The majority of the team have been together since starting out at Sunday development over 5 years ago.
But, being part of the football team is about more than playing great football. Along the way all the boys in the team have picked up valuable lessons about the importance of teamwork. They’ve quickly learnt that it doesn’t matter how talented they are as individuals if they can’t work with the rest of the team there’s no way they’re winning the match.
Winning one of the Together Fund grants would mean that we could take part in new challenges to help build the teams confidence and really put their skills to the test. We would use the grant to have a special team team building event at Beamish Wild.
Special team building events like this outside of the normal training and matches are really important to bring the team closer together. Whilst they’re already a group of friends off the pitch special events like this will make sure that they’re always a team that’s willing to work together on it.
