Whitley Bay Sporting Club
North Tyneside
We are a grass roots football club who also look to offer other sporting activities, such as martial arts and strength training. We are one of the largest clubs in the North East as we run as a charity, promoting the moto that ‘everyone can play’. This sets us aside from most more competetive clubs and has meant that we ave vastly expanded in the last few years. We see the club as a place where children can meet outside of school to be with their peers but we akso offer emotional and practical support; we are a true family. We are focusing on younger players and now have many teams at every youth level, especially development, u7, u8 and u9 levels. We now want to improve our offering to female players and are establishing a development offering to those young girls as well as having a girls team at every level. We now have a girls committe and will be soon be appointing a head of girls football. One of our coaches, Lewis crane, recently received a ‘Pass on your Passion’ award for his work with girls football and we had a strong presence of over 200 plyare at the Lionesses game arranged by the club. we desperately need further funds to support our work with the girls, to develop more female friendly coaching, as well as to use our contacts with female professional players to inspire the girls in an open day.
