Our robotics club are seeking to expand their capabilities by adding an additional VEX IQ robot to their existing hardware, and would like to apply to the Venator Community for funding.

This specialist STEM activity has proven to be extremely popular with pupils of all ages who are keen to develop their mechanical engineering and computer science skills in an exciting, relevant and entertaining manner. The club has allowed boys and girls from Year 7 to Year 10 to develop key skills such as team working, problem solving, innovation, leadership, time management etc. They have quickly developed their programming ability and accuracy as the robot must be capable of autonomous operation. Members of the team have also become much more confident when speaking to a wide range of adults about the club, their involvement and roles they play. Alongside the personal skills, the pupils’ curriculum skills have seen an improvement too as the existing robotics kit has allowed pupils to learn a range of engineering and computer skills in a 'hands-on' manner.

Despite only having limited hardware, and only for a short period of time, the club has proven to be highly competitive as well as helping promote improvements in the pupils’ academic achievements in a wide range of STEM subjects. By purchasing the kit for an additional robot, the team will be able to expand, meaning more pupils will be able to experience and enjoy the benefits of this high quality, highly competitive and professionally organised STEM activity.
