Sedgefield Water Polo Club was founded in 1997 alongside the swimming club and soon established itself as the leading club for junior water polo in the North East. The club has over 70 members from age 8 to adult, including male and female members, from beginners following our Level 8 water polo programme to players who represent England in international competitions.

The club runs training sessions six times a week and supports members by competing at a range of competitions, including the North East Regional’s, Northern League, Wakefield and District League and the Men’s National Water Polo League.

The club has been hit hard by the pandemic and substantial increases in pool hire fees and regularly involve our members to help to raise money to buy and replace kit through fundraising activities including bag packs and raffles. We would like to use the grant to purchase water polo balls and hats for use at training and for home and away games. The hats are specially made with our club logo on and help to promote a sense of belonging to a successful local team.

We are a family orientated club that is working hard to recruit new members from all age groups in our local area. Our members are given the opportunity to play in a team sport developing their self-confidence, resilience and community cohesion.

Thank you for considering our application, please find out more about our club on our website https://sedgefieldwaterpolo.com/ and our facebook page.
