Building Blocks established in 2019 with the original idea to provide three areas of provision and delivery. These were the setting up of a 0-5 nursery, developing a community room/s and a community coffee shop. Due to the impact of Covid we have not progressed with the nursery.

We provide local accessible services, provisions and activities within an area which is the highest area of deprivation in Washington. Our most successful project is our uniform exchange which provides preloved uniforms to families experiencing financial difficulties. We offer low cost activities which include messy play, parents and toddlers, breast feeding support, affordable seasonal events and low cost party options.

We are also a central venue for community groups to hire at a lower cost than more commercial competitors.  Autimates is a group for adults with Autism ran by Little Treasures. We also partner with other agencies i.e. a healthy lifestyle initiative via the social prescribing team and a coffee morning to support those experiencing loneliness and isolation.

We have the added advantage that our location directly faces the Concord bus station and free unrestricted parking is adjacent to the building. However, we are also in a densely populated area of housing which enables people to walk to our venue as well. We have also recently been approved as a training provider for the Kick Start scheme and as part of our post Covid recovery and have taken on three local people through the scheme.
