Bishopton PRU Award Icon Winner

Stockton

At Bishopton we are passionate about building on children and young people’s natural sense of awe and wonder. We hold firm that a fundamental human motivator is to try and understand WHY and we are dedicated to providing an inspiring science curriculum which turns curiosity into knowledge. We work with pupils who have been permanently excluded from school across key stages 2, 3 & 4. Over half of our pupils are on Free School Meals and are from families and home circumstances which places them at much greater risk of harm. It is well documented that pupils who have been permanently excluded from school are more likely to suffer mental ill health, enter the criminal justice system and have poorer social mobility in their future. It is our mission to negate these eventualities by creating a rich and diverse curriculum that is well resourced and develops their inquisitive spirit. We are excited that we are in the process of having a dedicated science lab developed, however this only covers the physical environment. In terms of scientific equipment, we are woefully under resourced and would truly welcome any additional funding to support this vital area of study. We love our pupils and want them to be empowered to find solutions to problems through scientific methodology, we want them to have a love of science as we believe that it is a pathway to a better quality of life for everyone and we thank you for your time and consideration.
